ABOUT THE EVENT

This is the second Chem East event to be held on the University of East Anglia campus, with the first taking place on 18th April 2018. On this half-day programme, Professors Carmen Galan (Bristol), Steve Marsden (Leeds) and Alan Watson (St Andrews) gave keynote talks with the plenary lecture delivered by Peter Seeberger from the Max Plank Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.

The goal of the event is to bring internationally renowned scientists from both the UK and abroad to discuss their latest research and discoveries, under the broad theme of organic chemistry.

THE ORGANISERS

Robert D. Eagling PhD, has over 18-years experience working with the chemical science community as an Editor. He is the founding Editor of Chem from Cell Press and Chemical Science from the Royal Society of Chemistry, where he also drove the success of ChemComm and Chem Soc Rev for a number of years.

Sean Bew PhD, Sean has a PhD from the University of Bristol, his PDRA studies took him to the Chemistry Department at the University of Nottingham and the Dyson Perrins Laboratory at the University of Oxford. His group has diverse research interests i.e. natural products, medicinal, supramolecular chemistry and organic Brønsted acid catalysts. In recent years he has gained a strong interest in stable-isotope labelled compounds with bespoke applications in emerging and cutting-edge disciplines which span discovery, translational science and clinical applications.

Tom Storr PhD, is newly appointed member of the organic section with interest in synthetic methodology and total synthesis. His spare time is spent on the allotment.
